Julien Macdonald, the world-famous designer who’s undoubtedly Britain’s king of provocative party-wear, returned to the centre stage with his gorgeous Spring Summer 2020 collection at the London Fashion Week this October. To wet the spectator’s appetite, the British designer stunned with his usual overdose of sparkles, sequins, and mini-dresses. Overall, the clothes were a glamourous mix of sparkling party ensembles which were too catchy even for the paparazzi lens.
Julien, in collaboration with socialite friend Gabriela Gonzalez who can now add the title fashion designer to her resume, showcased elegant swimwear which included marble-print resort wear complete with plunging necklines and printed gowns.
As was evident in the hot-vibes, Macdonald’s signature finely knit sheaths were finely crafted with feather or beads to give a beat to the whole rhythm of the collection – all using strict vintage machines.
His SS2020 collection, called Julien x Gabriela, teased the fashion trend reports with glittering chevron embellished gowns and high-octane glamour.
The jumpsuits were trimmed with heavy fringing, asymmetrical hemlines, off-the-shoulder detailing, and all embellishments were hand-crafted.
The general palette included bold blacks, shimmery silver, and pastel tones as an ode to Gonzalez, who was the inspiration behind it. The other hues included mint green, pinks, and blues which complimented the stunning collection.
