It is believed that almonds first originated from Western Asia and North Africa and are even native to the Middle East going as far back as ancient Egyptian times. Predominantly, the United States is the largest producer of almonds. Nowadays, one can buy almonds raw or even roasted from local supermarkets or online.
Almonds can be found combined in many foods, from deliciously baked almond cakes to almond milk. They may also be grinded into flour and milk can be made out of them too. In addition, they bring a kick into oats, when combined in a bowl of porridge or even flapjacks.
The question is: who cares?

Almonds contain antioxidants and these antioxidants in almonds are found in the brown layer of the skin. Due to this reason, almonds with their skin removed are not a healthy choice. Instead it is better to eat the almonds with the skin still on them. By doing so, the body gains full health benefits of these nuts which then shield the body from health related illnesses.

Vitamin E is a name for a particular group that belongs to fat soluble antioxidants, which build cell membranes in the human body. These cell membranes protect against oxidative damage. Almonds are one of many of the world’s best sources of vitamin E. Many studies have found that vitamin E intake, such as almonds lowers the risk of diseases, such as cancer, heart disease and even Alzheimer’s disease.

Nuts are a perfect choice of food for those that suffer from diabetes. Almonds contain magnesium; a mineral that many people do not get enough of in today’s day and age.  High magnesium intake has wholesome advantages for those that suffer from type 2 diabetes which is a common health issue around the world today.  Almonds help decrease the rise in insulin and glucose levels after meals. This often prevents those dangerous moments a diabetic suffers after eating a large meal, where their sugar level rises; sometimes causing severe headaches and drowsiness due to the sugar that was in the meal. Neural tube defects are certain conditions where the neural tube may either be missing in the fetus or underdeveloped. All in doing so, almonds have enough folic acid to keep the mother and the unborn baby perfectly healthy during the pregnancy.

No individual wants to feel constipated. Constipation can be irritating, not to mention painful if it continues over a long period of time. Due to the fact that almonds are rich in fibre, they help to prevent constipation. The trick is to drink a substantial amount of water when consuming almonds to speed up the digestive process and get the full benefits.  Just 4 or 5 almonds are enough to keep digestion and bowel movements regular.
